Bacteria can also be formed in raw meat so cook meat thoroughly before eating. Also put cooked and raw meat separately. If you have placed cooked meat in the same plate as that of raw meat then bacteria can be transferred which can cause poisoning. So take precaution in placing cooked meat separately.
Also try not to buy ready-to-eat food which has bacteria present in them and if your immune system is not strong enough to fight that bad bacteria then it will cause food poisoning. Always try to make fresh food at home as it contains less calories and is healthy. Ready-to-eat food is prepared in unhygienic conditions and can contain thrice as many calories as normal food.

As mentioned before, the contamination can happen at any point thus proper measures should be taken to avoid it. The following are a few ways food gets contaminated:

Not cooking the food thoroughly, the spread of bacteria between contaminated foods which is known as cross-contamination. Leaving cooked food for too long at warm temperatures or not correctly storing food, eating food that has expired. Someone who is ill or unhygienic  has touched the food and not adequately reheating previously cooked food.
